CULINARY WORKSHOP OF CERKNO DISHES
Get ready for a tasty and creative experience that will delight your taste buds.
Join Jernej in creating local traditional dishes. You will prepare a full meal, which will include smukavc, idrijski žlikrofi, and pajtička.
Smukavc Smukavc is a traditional Slovenian dish, popular mainly in the Idrija and Cerkno areas. To prepare this delicious and simple dish, you need various vegetable leaves, such as cabbage, kale, turnip, spinach, or even nettles. Fresh seasonal vegetables were always used to prepare smukavc. In spring, housewives would make smukavc from nettles, in summer from young cabbage and spinach leaves, and in autumn from kale, turnip, and cabbage leaves. The name "smukavc" comes from the process of pulling the vegetable leaves from the head of cabbage or kale. A typical Železniki smukavc is made as a hearty stew with potatoes and kale leaves.
Idrijski žlikrofi There are probably not many people who haven’t been delighted by the taste of delicious, handmade, and stuffed pasta – idrijski žlikrofi. If you haven't tried them yet, you've surely heard of them, so there's no need for further description. Cerkljansko pajtička Pajtička, small potica, is a popular dish in the Cerkno area, often served as a side dish to meat or vegetable dishes. If we play with different fillings, it can also be served and eaten as a dessert. Get your hands and stomachs ready for a fun and culinary event.
